Villarreal forward Roberto Soldado has revealed that he was annoyed at not being able to repay the faith of the Tottenham fans during his time with the club.
Soldado arrived at White Hart Lane in a £26million move from Valencia in 2013, but could manage only seven league goals during his two seasons in North London.
The 30-year-old eventually moved to Villarreal for £10m last summer and although he is loving his time at El Madrigal, Soldado admits it was tough to say goodbye to the Spurs faithful without having ever really performed to his full potential.
"I don't regret it at all, far from it, but I wanted to give a lot more than I gave in England," he told the Daily Mail of his failed move to England.
"The affection that people showed me from the first day to the last was incredible. Even though I was not scoring goals and not starting games if I got off the bench (to warm up) their first reaction would be to sing my song.
"In the end that made it even more infuriating - to receive such support and yet be unable to repay it by making those fans happy."
