Irvine: West Brom fans can be excited about new-look team

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine hopes fans are excited about their new-look team.

The Baggies boss has yet to call upon Sebastián Blanco, Joleon Lescott, Silvestre Varela and Georgios Samaras.

All four are in the squad for Saturday's game with Everton.

"I'm hoping fans will be excited," said Irvine.

"We had no choice to bring in so many players because of how many we lost and I'm hoping the fans will give these new players some time to develop, get settled in and, hopefully, in return they'll repay that patience in showing what they can do. Each one is capable of being a very good player here.

"We got our attacking players later because they were the hardest to get over the line.

"We've had to throw players in already who weren't quite ready already in Brown Ideye and Jason Davidson.

"And we will have to bring players in before they're at the levels we feel they need to be. That's the way things are. We have little choice in that respect."
