Ipswich loanee Giovani injured, need Tottenham guidance

On loan to Ipswich, Tottenham's Giovani dos Santos has picked up an injury and has been sent back to White Hart Lane for treatment.

The Mexico international sustained a groin injury about two weeks ago and did not play a part in his nation's World Cup qualifier against Honduras midweek.

However, Ipswich are desperate to have him back for this Saturday's clash with Sheffield United.

"Giovani trained on Friday and Saturday but his groin was still niggling him a little bit," said Ipswich physio Matt Byard.

"Mexico didn't want to risk him for their game so he's going back to Tottenham to be assessed.

"Obviously, if he's OK, we'd like to get him back training on Thursday or Friday and take it from there, but it will be all down to what Tottenham say."
