Inzaghi excited about new era at AC Milan

Pippo Inzaghi is excited about the new era about to kickoff at AC Milan. "I will go to training camp with great enthusiasm. There isn't Ancelotti, Maldini and Kaka, friends with whom we have won a lot, but this doesn't mean to say that the future will not be beautiful like the past," Inzaghi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"The past should help us. In 2003 we won the Champions League without Kaka. In 2007 we won it after the sale of Andriy Shevchenko.

"Champions are important, but at Milan there is an Italian base that will continue to play and win to reopen a cycle," he explained.

"It will be more difficult because Kaka is an irreplaceable player, but Milan will always go on the pitch to win. It will be a wonderful challenge with a lot of good youngsters, a healthy Nesta and a very strong Thiago Silva. The fans should be close to us. Their help will be fundamental this year like never before and in the end they will enjoy themselves with us."

Inzaghi then spoke of his expectations of Ancelotti's replacement, Leonardo.

"He is an intelligent person. He will carry novelty. I know that he will work more with the ball in training.

"The strength of Ancelotti was the respect of the players towards him and Leonardo can follow the same path because he is respected by everyone. It would have been more difficult for someone to come from outside."
