AC Milan coach Pippo Inzaghi enjoyed a winning Serie A debut as they defeated Lazio 3-1.
Keisuke Honda struck, as did Jeremy Menez on his Milan debut.
"These 50 days of training helped us to form a great group," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"I had said we could lose against more talented opponents, but not because they wanted it more than we did.
"It was a perfect game for the first hour, then we suffered a little, but that was only normal in the circumstances. The President was happy with the performance."
Inzaghi had special words for some of his players on the night.
"I am happy for Abate, who at times has been unfairly criticised. He gave the assist to Muntari and sparked the Menez move for the penalty."
