Inter Milan president Moratti: Correct decision to suspend weekend round

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says it was the right decision to suspend the weekend round following the death of Piermario Morosini.

The Livorno man collapsed and died during the Serie B game against Pescara on Saturday afternoon. It was then decided that the rest of the weekend games would be re-arranged.

"It was an obvious choice not to play," said Moratti.

"To not play was the only decision that could be made because the situation was serious. It gave the right signal and that is how you respond to pain. It was terrible."

Udinese, who actually own the player, had wanted their game against Inter to be called off even before an official announcement was made.

"Our players were distraught, so it was inevitable that so too would Udinese's," added the Nerazzurri President.

"We are talking about one of their teammates, they knew him well. It was a serious situation, a horrible one and football understood it. They understood it abroad too."
