Inter Milan director Marco Branca will hold talks with Liverpool officials in regards to the potential transfer of midfielder Javier Mascherano.

Former Reds boss Rafael Benitez is keen to bring the Argentine captain to the San Siro after he was installed as their replacement for Jose Mourinho so Branca will enquire about his availability.

The Nerazzurri can expect to pay about £25million for the 26-year old who helped his country to a 1-0 win over Nigeria in their opening World Cup match on the weekend.
