Inter Milan held by FC Twente in CL opener

Champions League title holders Inter Milan have been held to a 2-2 draw by Dutch champions FC Twente in their opening group stage match. Played at Twente's Arke Stadion, the visitors took the lead in the 13th minute when Wesley Sneijder drilled a low shot past Nikolay Mihailov but the Dutchmen were back on equal terms six minutes later thanks to a 20-yard Theo Janssen effort.

Twente then went ahead in fortunate circumstances on the half-hour mark when Inter's Diego Milito headed into his own goal but Samuel Eto'o came to the rescue with a leveller four minutes before hslf-time. His 25-yard shot giving Mihailov no chance and saving Rafael Benitez's blushes.

In the other Group A match, German club Werder Bremen were held to a 2-2 draw by English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
