Inter Milan coach Inzaghi regrets defensive errors for Bayern Munich defeat

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi admits they made too many mistakes in their Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

Inter lost 2-0 via a Leroy Sane wonder strike and Danilo D'Ambrosio's own goal.

“Our first 20 minutes were a bit too tense, then we were up against a very intense, extraordinary side, one of the best in Europe right now," Inzaghi told Sky Italia.

“We should've done better as a team to cover the opening goal with that Kimmich ball over the top. We did better after that, created chances, but also made too many technical errors with the final ball.

“Dzeko and Correa had opportunities to get back into it, but you need a perfect performance against a side of this level and we didn't do that.

“There were two of our players near Kimmich, we should've pressed him and closed him down better, because he had too much time and space to pick that pass (for Sane).

“It's true that we have made mistakes that were costly in the derby against Milan, the second and third goal were entirely avoidable.

“I don't recall huge Onana saves tonight, but we should've done better to close them down, because we know Bayern have players like Sane, Mane and Coman who can attack the space at any moment.

“The game was open, we shouldn't have conceded the second goal at the 67th minute."
