Inter Milan are close to reaching a deal with Napoli striker Dries Mertens.

Off contract in June, Mertens has resisted Napoli's attempts to open talks about a new deal.

The Belgium international is prepared to see out the season with Napoli before leaving as a free agent - with Inter now the favoured destination.

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti, speaking to "Tiki Taka", revealed an agreement was very close between Mertens and the Nerazzurri starting from June.

Mertens plans to leave Napoli after being left disappointed by the actions of president Aurelio de Laurentiis and his treatment of the players this season.
