Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho insists they were the better team after defeat in the Super Cup against Lazio.

"Lazio have the joy of victory, while we are safe in the knowledge we have a team and a great future," the Special One told Inter Channel.

"I am very satisfied with the performance of my players, of a new tactical system that is in development, but obviously I cannot be happy with the result.

"Everybody saw it, we could comfortably have won 3-1 today. Before Lazio took the lead, we had 12 or 14 clear cut chances.

"They focused on defence and had luck on their side, then only really played in the final stages. The crowd did not appreciate this approach either, but this is football."
