Robert Moreno insists his split from the Spain setup was nothing personal.

After guiding La Roja to Euros qualification, Moreno has stepped aside for Luis Enrique to resume duties after the former Barcelona coach had left the job to spend time with his daughter before she passed away.

Moreno, speaking to RAC-1's Jordi Basté, gave the pundit permission to make public the true story.

Baste revealed Moreno gave him "permission to make public this morning that his break with Luis Enrique is not related to that ugly legend that had been dropped that Robert Moreno had not called Luis Enrique or visited him during his daughter Xana's illness.

"Luis Enrique and Robert have met at least a couple of times and it has been the disparity of football criteria which was the reason for a break that has ended with the departure of Robert Moreno in the process of the return of Luis Enrique."
