Andres Iniesta insists he's not desperate for a new contract at Barcelona.

The midfielder is expected to put pen to paper on a new seven-year deal with Atletico upon his return from international duty with Spain next week.

"I've never asked for anything from the club. It is Barca that has contacted me," said Iniesta. "They know what I do and if they think I deserve this upgrade, I expect it to be fair.

"I don't know if in the coming days I'll sign an improved contract, but I think it is good that clubs especially appreciate the players from home, not just from the outside."
