Indian cricket skipper becomes part owner of Chennaiyin FC

Cricket legend MS Dhoni has been named a co-owner of Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Chennaiyin FC ahead of this weekend's big kick-off, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. Dhoni, the current captain of India's Test, One-Day and Twenty-20 sides, has taken part-ownership of the team alongside Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan.

He becomes the latest Indian cricket star to take a stake in an ISL franchise, following the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, who has an interest in the Kerala Blasters, and Virat Kohli, who part-owns FC Goa.

"I used to be a goalkeeper in school and always enjoy playing and watching the game," Dhoni said in a statement.

"I wanted to be associated with football so when the opportunity came to be a part of Chennaiyin FC, I was ecstatic as this gives me a chance to connect with the city of Chennai again."
