Ince has ambitions for Notts County reserve team

Notts County boss Paul Ince would like to see a reserve team at Meadow Lane next season. The former Manchester United and Liverpool enforcer believes the absence of a second-string side at Meadow Lane is making it difficult for the club's young prospects to break into the first team.

Only one youth-team player has played for the first team since the club re-launched its Centre of Excellence over two years ago.

"We've got some decent young players. The problem we've got is that we don't have a reserve team, so we are asking a lot for kids to jump from the Under-18s straight into the first team," Ince told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We've got to make sure our young players are coached the right way, train the right way and play the right way - like the first team. That is what they do at top clubs.

"I place a lot of importance on a youth set-up. It is vital for every club. It is something we've got to sit down and talk about because it is important."
