Jose Mourinho has admitted to telling Nemanja Matic perhaps he is not that important after all.
The Chelsea manager was without the Serbian midfielder for the Capital One Cup final triumph over Tottenham on March 1 and last week's Premier League win at West Ham United which suggested to him that his absence was not so crucial.
"I told him that we won two very important matches without him," joked Mourinho ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
"Maybe he's not so important. He was laughing.
"It's also the reality that he's very important for us."
Matic returns to the Blues line-up for the Round of 16 second leg at Stamford Bridge with the Londoners slightly ahead with an away goal after the 1-1 draw in Paris last month.
