I looked up to Xabi Alonso and now I learn from Lucas and Milner - Liverpool youngster Rossiter

Liverpool youngster Jordan Rossiter reveals his midfield inspirations at Anfield.

Rossiter is considered as the next big thing in the Liverpool ranks and the club hierarchy are hopeful that the youngster will go on to become a key player for the Reds in the years to come.

The 18-year-old is still learning his trade at the top and the midfielder has revealed that he looks up to Liverpool stars past and present such as Xabi Alonso, Lucas Leiva and James Milner as his major influences.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Rossiter said: "Growing up, I always admired Xabi Alonso. His passing range, his composure on the ball – he's someone I looked up to. Now it's the same with Lucas Leiva and James Milner. They both help me a lot and just training alongside them helps my development.

"I look at how Lucas breaks up play and the commitment he shows every day in training. He's been playing for Liverpool for the past eight years and that's some achievement. Hopefully I'll get the chance to play alongside him going forward.

"As for James, he's been playing at the highest level for over a decade. He's won Premier League titles. He has already helped me a lot since he joined the club this summer. He's a great lad and I see how hard he works to be the best he can be.

"The standards set by the likes of Lucas and James are where I need to get to. There's so much for me to learn from players like that."
