Gold Coast United Chairman, Professor Clive F Palmer, will witness first-hand his team's historic inaugural Hyundai A-League match this Saturday night after declaring today that he will take his seat at Suncorp Stadium when United face Brisbane Roar in the season opener.

"I've decided to go to the game on Saturday night because I don't want to disappoint our supporters or our team," Prof Palmer said.

"This is an historic occasion for our club and I don't want to let our players down. Like the song says, 'United we stand, divided we fall'."

In a rallying call, Prof Palmer added with his usual smile: "We have done everything together at this club since we started and we will be there together on Saturday night.

"We are ready, we are confident, we are United and we will never surrender!"
