The Reds midfielder is due to play his final match at Anfield for the club on Saturday which he expects to be an emotional affair that will leave him down in the dumps the following day.

"I've loved playing here, I've loved every minute of my career. I'm proud of what I've done. I'll have a smile on my face but I think there'll be a part of me that's sad and a little bit down that it's all over here at Anfield."

Liverpool host Crystal Palace on the weekend in what will be 34-year old Gerrard's final match at home and second last appearance for the Merseyside club before he sets off for the USA where he will join MLS club LA Galaxy in July.
