Newcastle United coach John Carver has extended his support to under-fire Leicester boss Nigel Pearson after his run-in with a journalist on Wednesday night.
Pearson called a reporter an 'ostrich' in the post-match conference after his side's 3-1 loss to Chelsea with the incident being given a fair bit if airplay since it occurred.
Struggling Newcastle travel to face the Foxes in a crunch relegation clash on Saturday and Carver can understand how Pearson might lose his cool given the unrelenting media scrutiny.
He said: "He wears his heart on his sleeve, and I can understand he loses his temper with a journalist because it's sometimes frustrating.
"As an individual, Nigel's exactly the same as me. It's a bit unfair the criticism he got last night and he doesn't deserve that.
"He's done an excellent job in turning things around there, and the criticism is a bit unfair."
