Sami Hyypia is returning to Liverpool for preseason.

He is heading back to Liverpool for a pre-season friendly with Bayer Leverkusen.

Former Finland defender Hyypia - who played 464 games during 10 years on Merseyside - took his first job in management at the Bundesliga club last term in a caretaker capacity after the dismissal of Robin Dutt.

He was handed a three-year permanent contract in May.
