Sunderland hero Don Hutchison says Dick Advocaat will keep his old club up.
Hutchison wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "I would have given Sunderland a one per cent chance of staying up if Gus Poyet had stayed on as manager.
"And after watching what was another defeat for my old club at West Ham United, I am actually now convinced they will stay up.
"In terms of the result and league table, nothing changed. However, the way the team was set-up, in a positive system for once, gave me a lot of hope.
"Dick Advocaat is the kind of manager I would have liked to have played under, and in fact I came close to doing just that when I left Sunderland.
"He wanted me to go to Rangers on a three-year deal, but West Ham offered me four and so to the Capital I went."
