Former Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has revealed how he fought to make a move to AC Milan.
The Dutch ace said: "They decided where I was meant to go and announced out of the blue that my next club would be Stuttgart.
"These decisions irritated me, but thanks to my agent, I was able to keep calm. I was happy in my first few months at Real, then they shoved me aside and made me feel useless. These things can weigh on a player, but I am mentally strong and resisted."
Instead Huntelaar completed the transfer to Milan, where he will carry the burden of the strike force after Kaka's departure.
"The most important thing is the future, that is why I chose Milan. There were other sides, but Milan are the best option for me, on that I have no doubt.
"I have not spoken to [Marco] van Basten, but I did call [Edgar] Davids and [Jaap] Stam, who had many things to say about Milan.
"It won't be easy to build a new era here, but I have the right energy to get this adventure kick-started. It is fantastic to be a part of it."
