Hull's Boyd withdraws from Scotland squad

George Boyd has been withdrawn from Scotland's squad for World Cup qualifiers this weekend.

The Hull City forward will not be made available for the clashes with Belgium at Hampden Park on Friday and Macedonia in Skopje on Tuesday because of an ankle injury.

Boyd, who has played once for Scotland, will join West Bromwich Albion pair James Morrison and Graham Dorrans on the sidelines after they were forced out of the playing group with various injury problems.

"George Boyd has gone home. He has had some sort of ankle injury I think," said assistant Mark McGhee.

"We know about James and Graham, they are a big loss, both of them, but we brought in others and we are getting on with it.

"Quite a few of them didn't train today but we are expecting a full complement tomorrow."

Derby County's Craig Bryson, Birmingham City's Chris Burke, Hibernian's Kevin Thomson and Rangers' Lee Wallace have been drafted in to replace the injured trio.
