Hull City's Folan in USA chasing MLS deal

Hull City striker Caleb Folan has traveled to the USA in search of a contract with a MLS club.

The 28-year old Republic of Ireland forward has struggled to get on the pitch with the Tigers this season mainly due to injury, making just three appearances in the English Championship, and is keen to join a club in America.

He has arrived Stateside for a week-long assessment and hopes he can clinch a deal before the 2011 MLS season kicks off in mid-March.

Hull City's Head of Football Operations Adam Pearson told skysports.com: "Caleb has struggled with injuries this season and with a couple of strikers arriving at the club in the last couple of months this opportunity came up.

"It's worth him having a look at it - we'll see what happens."

Folan has battled injuries since his move from Wigan Athletic in August 2007, making a total of 56 league appearances for Hull along with his loan stint at Middlesbrough last season.
