Hull City informed Alex Bruce that his contract will not be renewed via Twitter, prompting a funny response from the defender.

Alex Bruce has been released by Hull City after five years of service to the club but the defender apparently was not aware that his time at the KCOM Stadium was coming to an end this summer.

To confirm Bruce's departure, Hull released a statement on social media website Twitter alongside a picture of the defender, saying: "Alex Bruce heads a list of players who will be leaving @HullCity once their contracts expire at the end of June."

Bruce only seemed to find out about his exit through Twitter and jokingly replied: "Thanks for letting me know!! All the best"
