Hull bring in Dawson from Tottenham

Hull City have confirmed the signing of Michael Dawson from Tottenham.

The 30-year old centre-back has signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee following a nine-and-a-half-year deal spell at White Hart Lane.

Former Spurs captain Dawson, who passed a medical earlier on Tuesday, was thrilled to sign a deal with the former club of his older brother Andy who skippered the Tigers during his 10-year stay.

"I know this club well and obviously there is some family history with my brother Andy having been here," said Dawson.

"I'm just excited about getting started here now. The whole football club made it an attractive move to me - the manager, the squad of players, the fans. I feel ready and raring to go.

"Leaving Tottenham after ten years there was always going to be hard for me, but the chances to play there were going to be less and so a move to Hull City represented a great opportunity for me.

"At the end of the day, footballers want to play football and that wasn't going to happen for me at Tottenham. Once the owners and the manager here had been in touch with me about the possibility of a move, I just knew it was right.

"It's going to be a different type of challenge here. The season this club had last year was incredible, getting to the FA Cup final and retaining their place in the Premier League.

"We have to build on that and look forward to the season ahead."

During his time with Tottenham, former Nottingham Forest defender Dawson made over 320 appearances for the north London club.
