Hull City boss Phil Brown is delighted with the arrivals of Stephen Hunt (Reading) and Kamel Ghilas (Celta Vigo).
"Stephen is well known in the English leagues and I watched him with great interest last night (playing for the Republic of Ireland) with my fingers crossed," said Brown.
"He gave a good account of himself once again and we're hopeful that he will add a lot of strength in depth to our midfield. That's with regard to goals and the providing of goals.
"Kamel is a product of our scouting network. A lot of people won't know him, but hopefully that will change during the course of this season.
"He was bright in training this morning and he's looking forward to working with his new team-mates. I would say he's more of a number ten than a number nine, but he is effective in a 4-3-3 system and at times he may well compete with Stephen for a place on the left.
"But it's competition for places that we've been looking for.
"Both of them will be playing a big part in the game on Saturday."
