Hull City are finalising talks with Manchester United about extending the loan of Robbie Brady.
Nick Barmby has thanked United in enabling the Republic of Ireland youngster to remain with Hull to season's end.
"We've got Robbie until the end of the season and I'd like to thank Man United for that," Barmby told the Hull Daily Mail.
"We spoke with the manager (Sir Alex Ferguson) personally and he was a different class, he was really good with us. Hopefully, that relationship with one of the best clubs in the world can continue.
"It's great news. Robbie is delighted, we're delighted and you want to have players who want to come and play for you.
"Robbie loves it here and now it's time for him to kick on.
"We've got him until the end of the season and we'll work with him every day. Then it's down to Robbie to make the most of this platform."
