Hughes praises Stoke side despite Arsenal defeat

Mark Hughes was remaining positive despite his Stoke City team losing 3-1 to Arsenal on Sunday.

Aaron Ramsey gave the Gunners an early lead at the Emirates Stadium before Geoff Cameron levelled for the Potters in the 26th minute.

Led by Mesut Ozil, who provided three assists, Arsenal edged ahead through Per Mertesacker ten minutes later before Bacary Sagna rounded out the victory in the second half of a match that Stoke managed to create some solid chances.

"We showed courage to get back into the match after the early goal," Hughes said.

"We talked about trying to stay in the game in second half, and creating more opportunities for ourselves, and that is what we did with a level of control, but the third goal took the wind out of our sails."

The Stoke boss added: "Arsenal are a good team and have added a top-class player in Ozil, who had an influence today and I am sure that will continue."
