Hreidarsson reveals Celtic, Rangers interest

Hermann Hreidarsson has revealed how both Scottish giants, Celtic and Rangers, were interested in signing him from Portsmouth in the recent transfer window.

The Iceland international was struggling to fit into first team calculations prior to the opening of January's window and was looking for a new home until new opportunities arose.

"I fancied the idea of going to Rangers or Celtic," Hreidarsson told the Sunday Mail.

"I had a word with Tony (Adams) but he wanted to keep me. I can't really say how far it got and whose interest was stronger.

"But I spoke to a few people on the phone and they definitely wanted me."

Hreidarsson also revealed that his future at Fratton Park is uncertain.

"My contract is up this summer and I'll be free to leave," he added.

"If the chance came up again it's something I would consider."
