Houston Dynamo's Moffat expecting ex-Rangers ace Boyd to settle well with Portland Timbers

Houston Dynamo midfielder Adam Moffat is confident that new signing Kris Boyd will settle quickly at new club Portland Timbers.

The former Rangers, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough striker joined the Timbers as a Designated Player in late January and Moffat, who spent time with Portland last season, feels that Boyd will enjoy his stay in America's Northwest.

"I think Portland is very similar to back home. It's probably the most similar to Scotland of any city in America," Moffat told The Oregonian. "That will make it an easier transition for (Boyd)."

Despite insisting that Boyd will make it in the USA, Moffat also feels that the standard of football in Scotland has dropped making it hard for some players from the competition to adapt to Major League Soccer.

"The Scottish league is not like it once was. It was a good league a few years ago and now it's declining a little bit. A lot of guys are looking to make that switch over here. MLS is a hard league and I don't think it gets the credit it deserves.

"The league has gotten much better. Some guys who have come over from Scotland the past few years, they have struggled to adjust."
