Gerard Houllier was delighted to be back on Liverpool's bench for Jamie Carragher's testimonial.
Houllier revealed he put the special request to Roy Hodgson as he wanted to enjoy the unique experience of viewing a Reds game from the dugout once more.
"It was a little joke between Roy and I," Houllier explained to Liverpoolfc.tv. "I asked him if I could sit next to him on the bench and he said yes. I wanted to have that feeling again.
"It was important for me to be there to pay tribute to Jamie because I worked with him for six years and I enjoyed every minute of it.
"It was nice to see people happy to see me and I was as happy as they were. When you spend a good time at a club and develop strong relationships, it's always good to go back."
