Honda happy at CSKA Moscow but wants more advanced position

The agent of Keisuke Honda has confirmed his client is happy at CSKA Moscow but has revealed he wants to play in a more advanced attacking role.

Rumours have persisted during the European summer, linking the Japan international with a number of clubs including Arsenal and AC Milan, but his agent Kees Ploegsma says there is no eagerness to leave Moscow.

He did however admit there was some frustration in regard to the role Honda was playing.

"Yes it's true but his dissatisfaction arose before now. In the first five or six games, CSKA played Keisuke in the position behind a striker or left midfield. He looked great, constantly threatened the goal, holding the ball for support. But in the past seven or eight matches Honda has been pushed further away from the other team's goal. He immediately stopped scoring, he has almost no chances to score," Ploegsma said in an interview with Soviet Sport.

"Honda has spoken to (coach Leonid) Slutsky regarding the situation and understands that CSKA have two players for this role, Honda himself and Alan Dzagoev. The Japanese international understands that the coach wants to play both players and Honda is more suited to the role he currently is filling but that does not solve his problem.

"Keisuke is satisfied with everything in Moscow. He likes the team, he lives in a large and beautiful city. He is happy with CSKA. The only thing that he does not like is the position on the field. Otherwise, everything is wonderful. Honda is not eager to leave CSKA."
