Lewis Holtby could not believe that Tottenham did not secure qualification to the Champions League last season.
The German midfielder joined Spurs in January with the hope of playing in Europe's top competition only to see the North Londoners drop to fifth place on the Premier League table by seasons end.
Holtby admits it was a disastrous result but is looking forward to using that disappointment by achieving success as captain of the German U21 team at the European Championships which kick off this week.
"That was a catastrophe for us," he told Kicker regarding Tottenham.
"However, I can't let this bad mood affect Die Mannschaft."
