Brett Holman was in top form for AZ Alkmaar on the weekend before coming off because of a groin injury.
The Australian midfielder, who scored in the Socceroos' World Cup qualifying win over Oman last week, scored and provided an assist as Alkmaar were eventually held to a 2-2 draw by Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam in the Eredivisie.
Holman netted with a deflected effort in the 14th minute before setting up Roy Beerens to make it 2-0 around eight minutes later.
But unfortunately for Alkmaar, the former NEC Nijmegen man limped off in the 52nd minute with a groin problem which could sideline him for a few weeks, and it opened the door for Ajax to make a comeback by scoring twice in the second half to force a draw despite having Eyong Enoh sent off with 20 minutes remaining.
The point kept AZ on top of the Eredivisie table, two points clear of PSV Eindhoven, and it was the second league goal of the season for Holman.
