Blackpool boss Ian Holloway believes the summer signings of experienced duo Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips laid the foundation for their Championship promotion push.
"They showed my young ones how to behave. If I want a shining example to people it's those two. With the addition of those two to our group and the lads I already had I thought we were going to be strong again, but it took us a while."
On Phillips, who took his tally for the season to 13 with the final goal in Saturday's 3-1 win at Bristol City, Holloway added: "Kev is vital to us and I'm delighted he chose us because he would have had a lot more choices. Before my time, Blackpool would have ended up with people who didn't have that many choices." "There was a couple of important times (in the summer) like the addition of Kevin Phillips and Barry Ferguson," he said. "I thought they were vital because they're great players, great people.
