Holland excited yet cautious about Austria Vienna's Champions League hopes

James Holland is excited yet realistic about Austria Vienna's chances of qualifying for the UEFA champions League.

The Australian midfielder put in a full 90-minute shift as the Austrian champions beat Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 at the Maksimir Stadion in a play-off qualifier on Wednesday night ahead of the return leg in Vienna next week.

With a two-goal lead and a home leg awaiting, Die Veilchen's hopes of reaching the group stage proper of Europe's premier club competition are good but Holland is remaining cautious.

"We are obviously in a very strong position at the moment but there is still 90 minutes to go," he told SBS.

"It is not just mine but the whole team's dream to play in the Champions League. We're not there yet but that would be amazing.

"I always had that ambition since I was growing up on the Central Coast, to be honest.

"I have always worked hard for it and hopefully it will happen."

However, Holland and Austria Vienna have to tackle Wolfsberger AC in the league this weekend before worrying about the visit from Zagreb on Tuesday night.
