Hodgson insists Crystal Palace deserved Tottenham point

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is adamant his team merited a draw against Tottenham.

Palace put in an excellent display in the second half, creating plenty of chances and eventually getting an equaliser.

But they did have to rely on goalkeeper Vincente Guaita pulling off some outstanding saves to preserve the point.

Asked if the point was well deserved, Hodgson told reporters: "Yeah, I agree with that. I thought at half-time the 1-0 scoreline was quite harsh on us.

"Certainly with the second half performance, if it had stayed like that, we would have been feeling sorry for ourselves which is never good because feeling sorry for yourself doesn't achieve anything.

"Today we can go home proud of the performance, very happy that we did it in front of the crowd again, 2,000 people who were happy to be here and have gone home happy with the performance, and it's an important point.

"When you play teams like Tottenham - we've got Liverpool to come, West Ham; you know that the games are going to be very, very difficult. Anything you can take from them is going to be enormously useful going forward."
