Hodgson happy to hear Wenger push Arsenal's Walcott towards England return

England boss Roy Hodgson welcomed recent comments from Arsene Wenger regarding the national team availability of Theo Walcott.

The 25-year old winger was back in action for the Gunners when coming off the bench for the final 10 minutes of the weekend's 3-0 home win over Burnley.

It was Walcott's first appearance since injuring his knee in early January and it prompted Wenger to suggest that he would be happy if the dynamic forward was called up by Hodgson for England's Euro2016 qualifier against Slovenia on November 15.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's squad announcement, Hodgson said he was thrilled to hear Wenger put forward Walcott's name after the 36-time international missed so much action during 2014.

"I was very pleased with that. I must say that Arsene has never been a problem in that regard at all, in fact neither have any other managers for that matter, so I am very fortunate that normally when players are fit and able to come with the national team the managers have been very good at allowing or accepting that they are going to come without any complaint," said Hodgson.

"But it's nice of course when a manager like Arsene goes out, when he has a player that's been away for a long, long time and says 'if we want to select him we can' but, again, that's something that if you want to know whether it will happen, you'll have to wait until Thursday."
