Maltese outfit Hibernians are interested in former Manchester City and Sheffield United striker Ched Evans.
Evans, 26, was released from prison in October after serving half of a five-year sentence for the rape of a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room in 2011.
Club vice-president Stephen Vaughan said: "We are looking for a top striker and Ched fits the bill.
"We've spoken to his agent and offered a deal until the end of the season."
Hibernians technical director Jeffrey Farrugia said: "Our supporters are waiting for him minute by minute to come here. That is the reaction.
"I'm waiting for his agent to call to see what's going to happen.
"We have a big chance to win the title and we can quality for the Champions League."
