Recent reports suggest that Hibernian have failed in a bid to lure Gordon Strachan to Edinburgh as director of football.
Hibs chairman Rod Petrie spoke to the former Celtic manager about coming on board at Easter Road but Strachan politely declined the offer just as he did when the Hoops asked him to join Neil Lennon's coaching staff as a mentor for the young tactician.
But Strachan has since stated that he is unlikely to return to management in any form as he continues to provide guidance for young players coming through the ranks.
"I have not applied for one single job since I left Middlesbrough and I doubt if I ever will," he said.
"I'm just not interested in returning to management.
"I'm very content and happy with my voluntary work trying to help 16 to 18-year olds.
"There have been a couple of offers where I could not be a manager but involved in some way. But the circumstances weren't right.
"I'm in a position where I can pick and choose and say it has to be right for my lifestyle. And my lifestyle is I want to spend more time with my family."
