Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen was sent off during extra-time of Tuesday night's shock 4-3 second-round loss to the Irn Bru First Division strugglers, Morton.
Paatelainen has vowed to fight any touchline ban imposed on him for the dismissal by referee Iain Brines.
"The referee didn't speak to me, he didn't ask to see me so I take it the matter is closed and nothing will happen because nothing should happen," said Paatelainen.
"If it does, I will fight it because I did nothing wrong, it was absolutely ridiculous."
If the SFA look unfavourably on the matter, Paatelainen could be banned from the dugout for four matches.
Brines acted on the advice of the fourth official and Paatelainen told the Edinburgh Evening News: "It was a ridiculous decision, it's beyond me the way the fourth official reacted.
"There was no swearing or anything. I'd been sitting on a towel and I threw it to the floor because I was so disgusted, nothing else. Was that a crime?"
