Just before half time, Kerala Blasters levelled things up after a well taken corner from Stephen Pearson was headed home by Cedric Hengbart. Penn Ikechukwu Orji came off the subs bench in the 61st minute for Gusmao and it proved to be a key substitution. Just 3 minutes later, Ian Hume's fantastic cross was tucked into the bottom right hand corner from Orji to give the away side the lead.

The home side went in search for an equaliser, but were unable to beat former Manchester City goalkeeper, David James. Kerala Blasters hung on for all three points and a deserved victory which takes them one place above Pune City into 5th.

Kerala Blasters assistant coach Trevor Morgan remarked at the final whistle: "Renedy Singh was a tactical switch and Mehtab's was an injury, so we had to save the last sub because if we had any more injuries we would have been down to 10 men. Luckily we got the two goals and got the points!

"Everyone's important. It's a long season in terms of games to be played. If you get injured for ten days then you could miss at least four games so it's very important that your squad is fully fit for every match."
