Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has been delighted by the progress youngster Chris Herd has made this season.
The 23-year old Australian midfielder managed to score his first Premier League on the weekend when he superbly curled home Barry Bannan's cut back, which was later canceled out by Luis Suarez, in the 1-1 draw against Livrepool at Anfield.
Herd came through the Villa youth academy, which has produced plenty of first team players in recent years, and McLeish is thrilled to see him doing well.
"Chris Herd has had to get a fast-track in the Premier League and you can see the progress he has made and he scored a terrific goal.""They really have high opinions of themselves without being too cocky," McLeish told Press Association Sport of the clubs younger players.
The draw allowed Villa to remain 15th on the table, putting them six points clear of the relegation zone with six matches remaining.
