Henry on target but NYRB held by Colorado Rapids

Thierry Henry was again on target but could not prevent New York Red Bulls being held to a 2-2 draw in a scintillating contest with reigning champions Colorado Rapids last night.

The Frenchman scored an equaliser just two minutes after Jeff Larentowicz's 27th minute tap-in when he finished from the top of the area after being played in by Dwayne De Rosario.

That got the Red Bull Arena crowd up and about but it didn't stop Rapids midfielder Larentowicz from grabbing a second with a nice shot from a short free-kick which skipped through the Red Bulls defence in the 32nd minute to make it 2-1.

Not to be outdone, Luke Rodgers squared things up for the home side with a brilliant finish from a tight angle to have all four goals scored inside the first 35 minutes.

Rapids keeper Matt Picken came up with a match-saving stop in the 35th minute when he kept out Teemu Tainio before pulling off another huge save in the 66th minute when Rodgers tried to chip over him.

The draw put the Red Bulls back on top of the Eastern Conference table whilst Colorado moved to fourth in the Wets.

New York Red Bulls: 2 (Thierry Henry 29', Luke Rodgers 33') Colorado Rapids: 2 (Jeff Larentowicz 27'/32') Red Bull Arena, Harrison, NJ - 18,081
