Thierry Henry is of the belief that Kenny Cooper is capable of taking some of the goalscoring burden for New York Red Bulls this season.
The former Portland Timbers striker has already scored three goals for the Red Bulls this pre-season despite the fact a lot of New York fans questioned if he would perform alongside Henry, Juan Agudelo and Luke Rodgrs.
With Rodgers still trying to obtain a USA working visa, Cooper has been thrown into the fray by head coach Hans Backe and early indications suggest that he and Henry have already clicked ahead of the 2012 MLS campaign.
"But they're both box players: They want to score goals. It's kind of nice when they can stretch the defense and I can drop. He scored some great goals in Mexico, and that was a great finish.
"So hopefully he can do that for us, and if ever Luke comes that will be nice to have a lot of different options to score.''"He's kind of different if you compare him to Luke,'' said Henry. "Hopefully (Rodgers) can join us pretty soon.
And Cooper added that he is excited about continuing his good run of form alongside a class player such as Henry.
"It's an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to be on the same field with Thierry,'' said Cooper. "He's a hero of mine. Anyone in the world would love the opportunity to play with him. I feel very (fortunate).''
