Henderson: Regular game time helped me adapt to Liverpool pressure

Jordan Henderson admits he has taken a while to adjust to being a Liverpool player but is grateful he got the opportunity to do so.

The 24-year old midfielder copped plenty of flak after the Reds paid Sunderland £16million for his services in 2011 but has gone on to be a key part of Brendan Rodgers' side at Anfield, so much so that he was named vice-captain in September.

Now Henderson is set to take over club legend Steven Gerrard as skipper at the end of the season and has credited the fact he has been given regular game time with his change in fortunes on Merseyside.

"I think you get used to it, the more experience that you get," Henderson said.

"Obviously when you're young and you're first coming through, you start playing and it's a little bit nerve wracking at times.

"But when you're playing games all the time and they're coming thick and fast (it's less nerve wracking).

"I feel as though coming to Liverpool helped me cope with that pressure."
