Hearts boss Locke intent on signing fan favourite Skacel

Heart of Midlothian manager Gary Locke is determined to re-sign veteran midfielder Rudi Skacel.

The 34-year old Czech Republic ace has been training with the Jambos but has been unable to sign a contract with the Edinburgh club due to transfer restrictions.

Skacel, who has had two previous spells at Tynecastle, has brought plenty of experience to a youthful Hearts squad and Locke is keen to get a deal sorted as soon as possible.

"Rudi has been fantastic. He has been in training with us and has been a great help with a lot of the younger players," he said.

"I've not hidden the fact I would like to bring him in.

"He's frustrated because we thought there was a possibility of bringing him in. But that's not the case.

"He will train with us for the rest of the season and hopefully when things can get moving, we can see him in a Hearts jersey again."

In his time spent in Scotland's capital, the former Slavia Prague, Marseille, Southampton and Dundee United has scored 41 goals in 96 appearances in all competitions for the Jambos.
