David Healy insists Fulham always deserved to beat the drop this season.
"It was remarkable", explained Healy on fulhamfc.com. "Everybody outside of the dressing room had written us off. They said we didn't have the quality to win games, or do this or do that, but we won our last three away games of the season and to do that is a remarkable achievement.
"You saw how much it meant to the players and all the staff. It's a huge achievement and I'm chuffed to bits. I didn't play against Portsmouth but I'm pleased for every one of the lads.
"It was definitely hard being on the bench because you've got no way of affecting the outcome. I was just counting the seconds down like everyone else watching.
"We hung on - Portsmouth had some half-chances, but no real good chances, so the back four and midfield four have to take a lot of credit, as do the front two.
"Over the course of the season it's been deserved and the lads will take huge positives out of the end of the season. We were in trouble for a long time but to get out on the final day is huge."
